  • Why not use a Lab Management software to help manage the use of the computers in school to see if the students are using the Chrome App store? Additionally, is the user agreement reflecting the use of something like this? Is this something that you want to try and use technology to filter of is it more about behavior?

Great show and thanks for your thoughts. I love the show!

  • Hey Scott…thanks for the comment. Even with the use lab management software, students catch on quickly that the Chrome app store is wide open and that downloading these apps is a quick click away. If you can figure out a way to manage them besides blocking Chrome all together, please let us know! I’m assuming most districts have a user agreement that prohibits the unauthorized downloading of software but when it comes to apps, there seems to be a grey area since this is all so new. With iTunes apps, you need a username, password. With the Chrome apps, it’s free reign. Obviously AUP’s will need to be updated to reflect these new tools/resources, many of which are great for education. But, it is more about behavior and how to manage 10 year olds who see Super Mario Brothers for free, one click away, and can’t help themselves.
